Elite Strength & Conditioning coaching for every level of athlete in Sussex at our very own private gym.
ContactWe provide small group personal training in Brighton and Hove for people who take health & fitness training seriously. Our members are guided by expert coaches (Matt & Rob) who care about getting you results and having fun in the process. We’ve worked with professional athletes for the last 12 years and our mission is to make that same level of coaching available to the public, at an affordable price.
Our small group sessions are limited to a maximum of 6 people. This gives you the attention you need from the coach, in a positive team environment whilst making it more affordable than 1 to 1 coaching. Our members also have access to a full strength and conditioning programme, which they use to track their progress via our app.
Youth Athlete Development is a particular focus for us. We love helping the next generation of athletes get stronger, move better, run faster and prevent injuries. All in all making the most of their opportunity to be the best athlete they can be. That’s why our youth prices are just £14.50 per session and get cheaper when you train more regularly.
We also provide one to one coaching in strength & conditioning, speed & agility and injury rehabilitation. Scroll down to see our class timetable, prices and register for small group training.
Our brand new gym is based at Brighton Rugby Club, Waterhall, BN1 8YR! We refer to this as “HQ” in our timetable above.
We also coach clients out of the gym at Cardinal Newman College where we lead the strength & conditioning for their rugby and football academies.
We offer 2 different memberships:
1. Youth Athlete Development: Safe, FUN & effective training to build fitter, faster & stronger young athletes from the age of 11 to 18 years old. This is ideal for young footballers, rugby players and any budding athletes. This training not only transfers to your child’s sport, it lays the foundation for the rest of their life. Take your young superstar’s performance to the next level with professional S&C coaching.
We have 2 different types of class for our junior members: SPEED & AGILITY and Strength & Conditioning. Once we’ve established our youth classes, we’ll be launching a “Mini Athletes” programme for younger kids (7 to 12) to build the best athletic foundation in a fun environment too!
2. Adult Strength & Conditioning: For anyone who wants to make the most of their body and a healthy active lifestyle. These sessions are limited to 6 people. Let us guide you on your journey and track your progress.
3. Injury Rehab (Launching in May 2023): Specific rehab programmes in a small group environment, guided by highly experienced coaches; just like the service you’d receive in professional sport. Also limited to 6 people.

“I’m grateful to have supported some incredible people push the limits of human performance over the last decade. In some cases, not long after suffering “near career ending” injuries. Now I’m thrilled to combine my knowledge and skills with Rob and our team; to work with more individuals aspiring to be their best, whilst working closer to home and delivering an elite level of service that I’m truly proud of.”
Rob is an accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (UKSCA) who’s been working in the S&C industry since 2014, with roles varying from professional Rugby Union to Higher Education institutions such as leading the athletic development at Eastbourne College and The University of Brighton.
Rob’s motto is “Don’t just train, perform!” He believes that the improvements we make in the gym have got to make a difference to your performance in the sporting arena. Rob’s mission is to create an environment for athletes to maximise their potential and believes we have everything you need to do just that at Ascend.
