Having also graduated with an MSc in Strength & Conditioning, his knowledge is incredibly broad and he applies it through his coaching.

Marcus is a Senior S&C Coach at Ascend, accredited coach under the UKSCA, and MSc graduate, who has been involved with a variety of athletes in the last 4 years. These experiences range from working with a Commonwealth Weightlifter, to professional rugby players, GB cyclists and more whilst also having worked at both a professional rugby academy and a higher education institution.

Marcus’ holistic style of coaching allows him to adapt exercise prescription, and alter training styles, to maximise the performance of all athletes – whether they are everyday gym users, youth or elite performers.

Rob is a UKSCA Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach who’s been working in the S&C industry since 2014, with roles varying from professional Rugby Union to Higher Education institutions and now works with top performing athletes from a wide range of backgrounds to help them reach their athletic potential, as well as anyone with a drive to improve their health and longevity.

Rob is a big proponent of ensuring the work we do in the gym transfers, either to the sporting landscape or to life, and has made it his mission to create an environment for people to maximise their potential. That mission is our reality here at ASCEND.

Matt is driven to provide the highest quality coaching that has deep meaningful impact on people’s lives.

Matt founded Ascend with Rob in 2021 to bridge the gap in health & fitness coaching between professional sport and the general public. Since 2011 Matt worked with Olympic champions & international rugby players to world-class motorsport racers & alpine skiers. He is an accredited coach with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association, has an MSc in Strength & Conditioning from St Mary’s University and a wealth of science-based knowledge in all areas of human performance and injury rehabilitation.

When he’s not leading our coaching teams and fixing injuries, Matt will either be playing with his kids (Otis & Indi) or training to be an all round athlete for as long as possible.

“I’m grateful to have supported incredible people push the limits of human performance for over a decade.  In some cases, not long after suffering “near career ending” injuries.  But what we’re building at Ascend now is incredible; a real community of people aspiring to be their best. We’re honoured to have a team of such great coaches to support our members and I’m truly proud of the positive impact we have on so many lives.”
